CHARACTERISTIC FEATURES
The construction of the Research and Practice Hospital
with 600 bed capacity in the Başıbüyük Health Units
Campus, is situated at the Health Units Campus in the
province of İstanbul, Anatolian side, district of Maltepe
and the location of Başıbüyük.
The Research and Practice Hospital of the Marmara University
which has been planned to be the most developed health
center of Turkey when completed, has been planned in
accordance with the recent developments in the field
of Medicine and Medical Education in a manner that would
compensate for the lack of health services especially
in the Anatolian side of İstanbul, and has been projected
in such a way that the most recent methods in terms
of Research, Education, Diagnosis and Treatment can
be used and the modern equipment can be installed.
The number of beds which is 600 in 26 units reaches
658 together with the beds in the Emergency Service
and 32 beds in the Intensive Care Division. The fact
that there exist 2 transplantation, 2 thorax/cardiac,
2 neurosurgery, 2 pediatric surgery, 2 plastic surgery,
2 eye surgery, 2 otorhinolaryngology, 2 orthopedics,
2 urology, 2 general surgery operating rooms, 2 delivery
rooms and 2 gynecologic operation rooms and 5 operating
rooms in the emergency service is an evidence demonstrating
that the hospital is oriented towards research. There
exist 15 X-Ray Rooms 4 of which are in the Emergency
Service and 11 in the Radiology Department, also there
exist 3 angiography rooms, 2 computerized tomography
devices in the Department of Radiotheraphy, Nuclear
Magnetic Resonance, After Loading Cobalt-60 and Linear
Accelerator units.
The edifice is considered of 16 blocks connected to
each other by dilatations including research, diagnosis
and treatment units the total closed area of which is
115.018,82 m2 and of a two storey closed garage which
is connected to these blocks again by dilatations. One
of the above mentioned 16 blocks is in the height of
13 floors (together with the basement floors), five
of them in 12, five of them in 4 and the remaining five
in 3 floors. The height of the floors have been projected
as 4.48 m in the basement floors, ground and the first
floor, and as 3.52 m in the other floors; and floor
unit coverings have been used in all blocks, except
for the garage block. Structural axes have been planned
in the overall edifice as 3.60x7.20, 7.20x7.20 and 8.40x
8x40 according to the volume features. In the 4th block,
consoles of 1.80 m have been used starting from the
1st floor.
There exist ventilation system in the overall hospital
and air conditioning system in the specific departments
like the operating rooms, intensive care units, radiotheraphy
and radiology departments which should be sterile.
All the beds floors, Operation/Delivery rooms, Emergency
Service and other units include Medical Gases System.
Whole of the building is equiped with Fire Alarm and
Fire Extinguishing Systems.
Moreover whole of the building is planned to connect
all the related units each other with computer system,
research and training units are planned with internal
TV systems, and power supply is used in the necessary
units.
